A rivet nut is used in when materials are especially thin, the backside of the material isn’t easily accessible, and disassembly and reassembly is regularly required. A rivet nut is intended to be used with Grade 5 or Class 8.8 hardware. A rivet nut can be installed into multiple sheets of thin material such as steel, plastic, fiberglass and aluminum. Upon installation, additional threaded fastener components may be attached.
