Applications
Flanged immersion heaters are versatile in heating oil, heat transfer oils, water, gases, and other liquid solutions. These heaters may be used in pressure vessels and various process tanks, being directly immersed for optimum performance. Resources are available to provide a suitable flange heater not only for those applications stated, but also for those that require special materials such as Inconel 600, Monel 400, Hastelloy, titanium, and 300 series stainless steels. We have HOT IDEAS for your particular application!

Standard Features
  • UL & CSA recognition on elements.
  • 334 stainless steel sheath (equivalent to Incoloy 840) standard for most applications and temperatures.
  • Type 'A' 80/20 resistance wire sized to provide low wire watt density for maximum life.
  • Fusion welded junction between pin and resistance wire for superior strength.
  • High purity MgO compacted to provide maximum heat conductivity and optimum dielectric integrity.
  • Recompacted bends on hairpin end of elements to restore MgO density.
  • Terminal ends moisture sealed against the entrance of contaminants during storage and service.
  • #10-32 terminals with screw lug line connectors.
  • Welded construction between elements and flanges; silver braze construction on non ferrous materials.
  • ALL joints between elements and flange pressure tested for leaks.
  • Spacer supports on units where immersed length exceeds 18".
  • NEMA 1 housings; seamless and deep drawn on 8" and under flanges to provide accessibility to wiring, plus afford a degree of protection against splashing or dripping liquids.
  • 1/2" O.D. thermowell for existing or optional thermostat.
  • 100% inspected for:
    • Dielectric or Hi-Pot between conductors and sheath of element.
    • Insulation resistance.
    • Wattage

Optional / Additional Features
  • ASME Section VIII , Div. 1, design and code stamp available.
  • NEMA 4 moisture or NEMA 7 explosion resistant enclosures available on all flange sizes.
  • Standoff housing design for high temperature applications.
  • DPST thermostat controls available in three temperature ranges, inside NEMA 1, 4, or 7 housings.
  • MgO filled type J or K thermocouples for control or high limit protection.
NOTE: Hi-limit thermocouples welded to element sheath provides positive sensing protection for over heat situations. Thermocouple junction should be at area of highest operating temperature.
  • Various selection of sheath materials... Monel 400, Inconel 600, Hastelloy, Carpenter 20, and Titanium.
  • Type 304 or 316 stainless steel flanges.
  • Passivation or Electropolishing on elements and flanges for pure and deionized water, photo chemicals and special processes.
  • Baffle assembly between elements to direct flow in vessel applications.
  • Special lengths, wattage's and voltages... consult factory.
  • Solid state digital controls available for thermocouple inputs.
